Tourism is the world’s largest industry, as widely acclaimed by the World Tourism Organisation (WTO). It provides substantial employment opportunities and export revenue to a nation. The diversity of its nature initiates rapid and extensive development for a destination with new tourist attractions, hotels and resorts development, retail and entertainment coupled with other non directly linked small and medium business enterprise.
In Malaysia, tourism is the second largest income generator. As the industry grows, there is a great demand for operation and management expertise in this field as part of any wider range of tourism related entities. The programme is aimed to train students with a range of vocational skills and competencies with an emphasis on tour operations knowledge and management studies. Relevant studies in social science are also integrated as part of the course module in order for students to understand the various trends in the tourism industry.
